Worthy Brothers, Families, Squires and Roses,

August was a busy month for the Council. On August 8th, the Family of David Diaz along with other Knights ran the distribution of baby bottles as part of the Life Program. Also on the 8th, Don Diego Diaz and I held a food sale (donuts and coffee) and several Knights participated in our Corporate Communion. On the 22nd, David Diaz and family returned for the collection of the baby bottles. August 27, the Mission and Parish celebrated the Feast Day of San Luis Rey with a Mass and a festival. Serving the Parish and Council were, Vern Capistran in the choir, Gary Valente as an usher, Sage Chavez as 4th Degree. Working on the hot dog and hamburger cooking and sale were David Austin, Gilbert Alvarez, Bob Conboy, Rick Caron, Rick Sharp, Don Diaz, David Diaz, and Rudy Estrada. Also working at the event was Armando Mena as organizer and Lee Bickford as master coordinator. If I missed anyone’s name, I apologize. Please let me know and will acknowledge you next month. I thank everyone who volunteered and participated this month

However, we will still have our Corporate Communion on Sunday, September 5th at the 10:00 AM Mass.

The Council is planning on having a social before the Business Meeting in October. It will be held on Wednesday, October 6th at 6:00 PM followed by the Business Meeting at 7:00 PM. It is planned as a spaghetti dinner. Please RSVP to me as soon as possible so we can plan on how many meals we need to make.

October is also Rosary Month, and we are still trying to run the Coats for Kids program.

Vivat Jesus!

Rick Lewis, Grand Knight
