Knights of Columbus Council 3162 – 2026 Scholarship Opportunities

The Knights of Columbus San Luis Rey de Francia Council 3162 is pleased to announce that 2026 Scholarship Applications are now open. Each year, our Council proudly supports students and members of our Catholic community through scholarships recognizing academic achievement, service, and commitment to faith.

Scholarship Categories Available

Council 3162 may award scholarships (subject to available funds) in the following categories:

  • Squire Scholarships
    Awards of $250, $500, or $1,000 for college‑eligible Squires, Squire/Rose members, or Knights who are former Squires.
  • Academic Scholarships
    $500 or $1,000 awards for qualifying college-bound or continuing college students.
  • Religious School Scholarships
    Awards of $250, $500, or $1,000 for students attending parochial elementary, high school, or vocational schools.
  • Religious Training Stipends
    Partial stipends for Knights attending religious certification workshops or training in support of Church service or ministry programs.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • A member in good standing of Knights of Columbus Council 3162
  • A spouse, child, or grandchild of a member in good standing
  • A spouse, child, or grandchild of a deceased member who was in good standing at the time of death
  • A member in good standing of Pope John Paul II Columbian Squire Circle 4974 or St. Clare Squire Rose Circle 0006

Required Application Materials

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed Scholarship Application with Verification of Eligibility signed by the Grand Knight and Financial Secretary
  • Academic records (high school transcripts, SAT/ACT scores if applicable, or college transcripts for continuing students)
  • Three letters of recommendation (not from parents or guardians)
  • Additional documentation depending on scholarship category (school registration, counselor or principal recommendation, or stipend verification)

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: March 31, 2026
  • Scholarships are awarded annually in June

College scholarship applications will also be automatically forwarded to the State Council. Students planning to attend a Catholic college or university should contact the Grand Knight before March 1 regarding Supreme Council scholarship opportunities.
